Modular Stages for Olympus BH2 Microscopes
BH2-SVL Stage
The BH2-SVL rectangular stage is a modular, mechanical XY stage which features X and Y vernier markings and downward pointing coaxial positioning knobs located on the left-hand side of the stage. The rectangular stage is 180mm x 135mm, with a 75mm x 50mm scanning region.
The BH2-SVL can be rotated on the modular stage mount through a range of 270 degrees (or 65 degrees with the NIC condenser installed).
The BH2-SVL accepts either the B2-HL, B2-HR, or B2-HL2 specimen clips, and is compatible with any of the BH2 upright scopes.
BH2-SVR Stage
The BH2-SVR rectangular stage is a modular, mechanical XY stage which features X and Y vernier markings and downward pointing coaxial positioning knobs located on the right-hand side of the stage. The rectangular stage is 180mm x 135mm, with a 75mm x 50mm scanning region.
The BH2-SVR can be rotated on the modular stage mount through a range of 270 degrees (or 65 degrees with the NIC condenser installed).
The BH2-SVR accepts either the B2-HL, B2-HR, or B2-HL2 specimen clips, and is compatible with any of the BH2 upright scopes.
BH2-SH Stage
The BH2-SH rectangular stage is a modular, mechanical XY stage which features X and Y vernier markings and outwardly facing coaxial positioning knobs located on both the left-hand and right-hand sides of the stage. The rectangular stage is 180mm x 135mm, with a 76mm x 50mm scanning region.
The BH2-SH can be rotated on the modular stage mount through a range of 40 degrees, with the positioning controls mounted on the back-side, and 180 degrees with the controls mounted on the front-side.
The BH2-SH accepts either the B2-HL, B2-HR, or B2-HL2 specimen clips, and is compatible with any of the BH2 upright scopes.
BH2-SVFR Stage
The BH2-SVFR rectangular stage is a modular, mechanical XY stage which features X and Y vernier markings and coaxial positioning knobs located on the right-hand side of the stage. The grooved rectangular stage is 180mm x 135mm, with a 76mm x 52mm scanning region.
The BH2-SVFR can be rotated on the modular stage mount through a range of 270 degrees (or 65 degrees with the NIC condenser installed).
The top surface of the BH2-SVFR stage is fluted, to reduce adhesion of slides due to spilled immersion oil.
The BH2-SVFR accepts either the B2-HL, B2-HR, or B2-HL2 specimen clips, and is compatible with any of the BH2 upright scopes.
Specimen Clips
The B2-HL, B2-HR, and B2-HL2 specimen clips are compatible with all of the rectangular stages described above. The B2-HL has a curved, spring-loaded slide retainer on the operator’s left-hand side, whereas the B2-HR has it on the right-hand side. Both of these can accommodate either one or two 25mm x 75mm slides. The B2-HL2 has a straight, spring-loaded slide retainer on the operator’s left-hand side, which can accommodate only a single 25mmx 75mm slide.
BH2-SIC
BH2-SIC Metallurgical Stage
The BH2-SIC metallurgical stage has a rectangular platform of 200mm x 161mm, a 110mm x 100mm scanning region, and right side positioning controls. This stage was made to be used with the BH2-LWCD condenser for transmitted light applications.
BH2-SRG Stage
The BH2-SRG (Olympus 4-LB751) is a circular stage intended for polarizing and Nomarski applications. This stage features a circular 142mm diameter surface which rotates through a range of 360 degrees, with graduated position markings, a position-lock thumbscrew, and XY centering thumbscrews.
The BH2-SRG accepts either conventional stage clips or the C-FMP mechanical XY positioning specimen clip, and is compatible with any of the BH2 upright scopes.
BH2-SRP Stage
The BH2-SRP (Olympus 4-P703) is a circular stage intended for polarizing and Nomarski applications, that was provided with the BHSP polarizing stands. Like the BH2-SRG, this stage features a circular surface which rotates through a range of 360 degrees, with graduated position markings, a position-lock thumbscrew, and XY centering thumbscrews. This stage, which has a larger diameter (165mm) than the BH2-SRG (142mm), features removable centering wrenches and a removable center plate.
The BH2-SRP accepts either conventional stage clips or the A-FMP or AH-FMP mechanical XY positioning specimen clips, and offers additional precision over the BH2-SRG, by using a ring of bearing balls, rather than a film of grease, to support the rotating stage surface, and by integrating the stage with the substage assembly of the stand.
Because the BH2-SRP stage is integrated with its own substage mechanism, the BH2-SRP cannot be installed onto the stage mounting ring of a BH2 stand. To install the BH2-SRP onto a these stands, the BH2-CH substage must be removed and replaced with the BH2-SRP stage (a very simple process that requires only a single 3mm hex driver). With this difference in mind, the BH2-SRP stage is compatible with any of the BH2 upright scopes.
A-FMP
A-FMP XY Positioner
The A-FMP (Olympus 4-P101) is an XY mechanical stage add-on for the BH2-SRP stage. This black-finished positioner can accommodate 28mm x 47mm or 26mm x 76mm slides.
AH-FMP XY Positioner
The AH-FMP (Olympus 4-P102) is an XY mechanical stage add-on for the BH2-SRP stage. This black positioner has a scanning area of 30mm x 30mm and can accommodate 28mm x 47mm or 26mm x 76mm slides.
C-FMP
C-FMP XY Positioner
The C-FMP (Olympus 4-P103 and 4-P104) are a pair of XY mechanical stage add-ons for the BH2-SRG stage. These were available in brushed metal or black finishes. The 4-P103 version can accommodate 28mm x 47mm slides, whereas the 4-P104 version can accommodate 28mm x 76mm slides.
